Shipping an EMS Body Slimming Machine to the US and EU: Duties, HS Codes and Door-to-Door Delivery

Tabela de Conteúdos

Short answer: Shipping an EMS Body Slimming Machine to the US or EU turns on HS code, duty, import tax, brokerage, landed-cost lines and a destination customs broker. Duty and import tax sit on top of the invoice. The delivery term decides who clears customs. Pick DDP only when the seller can clear both borders.

Two identical crates can land on two desks at very different final costs.

The gap is paperwork, not hardware. That’s the part buyers underestimate.

A buyer in Texas and a buyer in Germany order the same EMS Body Slimming Machine.

The tariff line, the import tax and the handover point pull their invoices apart.

This piece follows a unit from our loading bay to your treatment room.

The code that classifies it. The charges that build up in between.

The delivery terms that decide who faces the border.

HS Code

The HS code is the single line that tells customs what your machine is.

It drives the duty rate applied to it. The rate is set by the destination. Not by us.

Body-shaping and muscle-stimulation apparatus fall under different headings in the US and the EU.

Classify it late, or let a forwarder guess, and the shipment can be reclassified at the border.

Duty is then recalculated on a wider value. That value includes freight and insurance as well as the goods.

So we confirm the code with the buyer before the crate is strapped to a pallet.

The commercial invoice, the packing list and a certificate of origin all have to agree with that code.

A customs officer reads them as a set.

Duty And VAT

Duty is only the first charge.

Import VAT or sales tax lands on top. It’s calculated on the value of goods, freight and insurance.

It can outweigh the duty itself.

Then come the lines that rarely appear in a quote. Brokerage. A customs examination if the container is pulled.

Terminal handling. Storage once the crate clears its free days at the port.

Packing geometry matters here.

The crate leaves our dock at 67*61*135cm. It weighs 111KG.

Both the pallet footprint and the weight feed the freight and handling lines.

Voltage isn’t a customs charge. It belongs on the same checklist though.

One build handles both mains standards. Plug it into 200–240V. Or into 100–120V.

The cycle rate is 50/60Hz.

The rates behind each line are set by the destination authority. They change.

A serious quote states which lines it covers. Ask that question early.

Handover Terms

The three-letter term on your quotation decides how much of the journey you own.

EXW means you collect from our factory gate. Every mile after that is yours. Export clearance included.

FOB moves the handover to the port of loading. We clear the goods out of China.

You take responsibility from the ship onward.

DDP pushes the handover all the way to your door. The seller clears both borders and settles the duties.

That’s convenient. It’s also the term most often quoted loosely.

A seller who names DDP without stating who pays the import VAT hasn’t really offered DDP.

Ask for a landed cost behind the promise.

Pick the term that matches your own import experience. Put the covered lines in writing before you compare anything else.

Door To Door

A genuine door-to-door service bundles several steps into one price.

Collection. Export clearance. The ocean or air leg. Import clearance. Duty settlement. The final delivery run.

What it normally excludes is worth naming. Positioning inside the building. Unpacking and waste removal.

Installation and commissioning. Any storage charge caused by a receiver who wasn’t ready.

That last point matters more than buyers expect. A crate that waits on a dock accrues demurrage quickly.

Before dispatch we ask for the delivery address and the receiving hours.

We ask whether a lift gate is available. We ask who will sign.

The unit is heavy. It arrives on a pallet.

A residential-style delivery point needs equipment a standard van doesn’t carry.

Where Shipments Stall

Shipments rarely stall for exotic reasons.

They stall on a value declared lower than the invoice. On a certificate that contradicts the invoice.

On an HS code the destination disagrees with. On a receiver who can’t take delivery when the truck arrives.

Each one converts into days of storage. Each one means a revised entry.

The fix is administrative and cheap. One consistent set of documents. A code agreed in advance.

A named consignee with a working phone number.

We send the invoice, the packing list and the certificate of origin as a matched set.

We keep the description identical across all three.

When those items line up, customs has little reason to hold the crate.

A clean entry is what protects the delivery date.

The Paperwork

Cross-border shipping is decided by detail long before it’s decided by freight rate.

The HS code fixes the duty. The delivery term fixes who pays it. The receiving arrangements fix how long the crate sits.

Ask for the code, the covered charge lines and the handover point in writing.

Match the term to your own import capability. Then shipping becomes a predictable line in your budget.

Not a variable you can’t see.

Questions We Hear

Who pays import duty when the quotation reads DDP? The seller does, in theory.

That’s the point of the term. In practice the duty is recovered inside the DDP price.

So ask whether that price names every charge line it covers.

Name the taxes and the brokerage fees before you compare it with an FOB figure.

How is the HS code agreed? We propose a classification based on the machine’s function.

Then we confirm it with the buyer. Where the market requires it, a destination customs broker confirms it too.

The code is fixed before dispatch. It’s repeated consistently on the invoice, the packing list and the certificate of origin.

A mismatch is the most common reason an entry gets questioned.

What documents does a forwarder need before collection? A commercial invoice. A packing list.

The HS code. A certificate of origin. The consignee’s contact details and delivery instructions.

For DDP movements the forwarder also needs the agreed duty arrangement. It needs a broker at the destination too.

Can one voltage build ship to the US and the EU? Yes.

The unit supports 200–240V and also 100–120V. The cycle rate is 50/60Hz.

One build covers both markets. You don’t need a separate production run per region.

The relevant checks are the plug and the local labelling rules. Not the machine’s internal power stage.

What causes a multi-day customs hold? Usually one of four things.

A declared value that doesn’t match the invoice. An HS code the destination disputes.

Documents that contradict each other. A consignee who can’t accept delivery.

All four are preventable. All four turn into storage charges for whoever caused the delay.

Freight Options

Sea or air. That’s the first choice.

Sea costs less. Air moves sooner.

A 111KG crate suits either one. The pallet footprint decides the last mile.

Sea suits a planned opening. Air suits a date you can’t move.

Ask which one the quote assumes. Then ask again in writing.

Cargo Cover

Ask who insures the crate. Ask at what value.

A cheap quote often leaves that line out.

Cover the goods. Cover the freight. Then read the exclusions.

Document Set

Four papers travel with the unit. Commercial invoice. Packing list.

Certificate of origin. The HS code on the entry.

Keep the description identical on all four.

One mismatch costs days.

Delivery Day

Name a person who will sign. Give a phone number that works.

Check the crate before you sign. Photograph any damage.

Damage reported later is harder to prove.

Keep the signed sheet. Keep the photos.

Planning a first import into the US or the EU? Tell the Perfectlaser team your destination. Add the receiving address type and the expected volume.

We’ll confirm the classification we use. We’ll list the charge lines our door-to-door quote covers.

We’ll set the handover term out in writing. Then the EMS Body Slimming Machine you order lands with a landed cost you can predict.

Duty and tax treatment varies by market and by regulation. Treat any range here as planning guidance.

Confirm the final figures with your own customs broker.
